1. Two Daughters: Not exactly what an Indian society wants
A beautiful narration of frustration of a mother who had just given birth to her second daughter in India:
It all started the day my second daughter was born. It was a lovely day in March, clear, crisp and cool. As I breathed in the fragrant air I felt my cup of joy brimming over. Which only shows how innocent I was to the ways of the world.
The smart starched nurse in the snow-white uniform who was tucking me in said casually, ‘I hope you’re happy dear, you seem to look it,’ she said, as if she were surprised.

2. Man dies of shock as wife bears baby girl
A man in Orissa was so shocked after he heard that his wife had given birth to a girl child that he fell to the ground, hit his head against a wall and succumbed to his injuries.
I hope the wife is safe.

3. Female fetus was buried for Rs. 100
No comments except that if I ever hear someone say that it's only the poor who kill their daughters, I might ..... scream. Well, what else can I do?

It's just tha the wife and her children would have suffered even more, already in poverty and then without a breadwinner after he died, life would have become even more harsh for them in Orissa.

The man was a victim too of the overwhelming complexity of intertwined social attitudes and backwardness that led him to think like that. Changing their mentality and attitude is the key.
